Preparing for IRON MAN

I recently picked up a 22 page Iron Man story. I get to pencil and ink(which is what i've always wanted) shellhead in all his armored glory. Below is a sketch by me trying to familiarize myself with one of his more recent armor designs. It's very tough trying to find enough reference shots from all angles. I'm not sure what the back of the armor looks like... guess i'll only draw him facing camera.

Wish I could paint like these guys...

Below is some inspiration I grabbed from the net. These are two of my favorite painters - Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida and William Merritt Chase.

Sorrola is a master with light and wet. I feel the sunlight is these beach paintings. Just gorgeous stuff! I see a lot of John Singer Sargent in his work. I'll never paint like this but they are always great to look at. Long live the impressionist.

William Merritt Chase

This painting is in the Brooklyn Musseum. I need
to check it out again. it's been a while...

small sketch

Found an old sketchbook and saw this sketch of Dawn. She had just gotten her hair done. I think we were visiting our friend Kelly in the hospital. I forget why she was there.

I will have drawings posted on this blog soon. Hopefully before the year is out. um... yeah...

Keeping Track of things...

So I've been keeping myself busy lately with little projects. I recently picked up a new camera(nikon D90) and I'm really enjoying getting out there and taking pictures. I'm still learning how to use the camera. I want my picture taking to be more instinct rather then fumbling around for the right settings in different situations.

Another thing I've been doing is searching the net for old work. Most of this is 3D work I did for TV and WEB.

First up is a Branding piece I did for Tyra Banks' Bankable Productions. I built this bank vault in Lightwave 3D. The model was used for both Web, Print and TV.

Beauty Render

All that work for this??

Next up is Chris Webber's website. I modeled the basketball and created several animated transitions that were used to link the different parts of his site.

My final site is something I did for Hair Stylist Oscar James. I think this was the first site I did 3D stuff for. still kinda cool. For this one I modeled an Orchid and again, created several animated transitions.

So i've been searching hi and low for tv commercials that I've boarded. These are just a few of the ones that i've been able to find. Along with the actual filmed commercials, I will be posting the boards(If I have them)below so you can see what was used. It's a fun process.

Infiniti FX

Motorola Razr: Transformer
I do not have the boards for this spot. It's a favorite. I not only did I have to board out the general action but needed to also sketch out all the transformations for the 3d guys.

AVON: Bond Girl 007
